The Fortunous Dynasty's Exploits
One of the Fortunous’s ships, captured from Hadarak Fel during his ill-advised ambush when The Indomitable left Baggard’s End.
She’s a younger ship, as far as the Imperial registrars can tell. Her Imperial records only begin at a raid. She attacked a convoy traveling from Donal to Tailim, carrying the rare Red Creeping Moss of that world.
Unfortunately for the Grox Born and her two paired raiders, the convoy included the Saint Fermisk’s Mercy. This Q-ship had never fought raiders before. But she tore the guts out of the Grox Born when she came in. The raiders fled. They were not ready for any real resistance.
The Grox Born would have fled, had her plasma drives not been wrecked. Her crew abandoned ship, praying that they would be rescued after the convoy left. The Mercy continued on. She marked the location.
That information was sold to ship salvagers. They fitted a new drive to the ship and brought her to port
The machine spirits of the ship disagree with their new engines. Couplings will pop free and conduits snap at the worst times.
Tech-priests from Smokestack think the hull, manufactured in some blighted shipyard, struggles against the holiness of the new engine. They recommend continual new consecrations to the Machine God to bring her into the fold.
The Grox Born’s symbol is a blacksmith hammering a burning braisier on the back of a worker, who is cobbling the blacksmith’s shoes. There is no knowledge of the source of the image, but it has been with the ship for as long as any records exist.
