The Fortunous Dynasty's Exploits
St Amaro's Own
The 336th Dolat Grenadiers “St. Amaro’s Own”
The 336th earned its name in the destruction of the Reign of Brass, fighting on Mannsdal. They fought along the polar ice cap, after being rapidly redeployed in a near-futile attempt to stop the advance. Within two hours of digging in, they found themselves embroiled in a battle. They endured three days of nearly continual assault, throwing out their dead to strengthen their walls and recharging their laspacks in their burning chimeras.
They received an eight-hour break on the fourth day. The uninjured dug desperately to link up positions and the command bunker was finally anchored down.
One of the preachers present decided that the men deserved support. He ran to the rear and convinced the local Ecclesiarchy to give him the relic carapace armor of [[St. Amaro]]. He brought it reverently to the front and placed it above the command bunker, under a titanium aquila tower. The whole structure was bathed in sodium lights and priests began to sing the battle hymn of St. Amaro. As the battle raged on the hymns were continuous. They came from the throats of the priests, the soldiers and the wounded. For forty-seven days that hymn was sung, even as the 336th shrank.
Concertina the Barbed made it her mission to take the hill. But the Blizzard Born savaged her lines and killed her rear guards. The 336th refused to break and her artillery never seemed to land straight. When the counterattack finally came, it was all Concertina could do to curse the Imperium.
The hill never fell.
