The Fortunous Dynasty's Exploits
Deacon Sandy Donne
Deacon of the Golden Sirens troops
Deacon Donne could, and should, be training new priests. But he’s grown to love the Guard. Here he finds his ministrations are necessary and appreciated. He’s been well-decorated by the Ecclesiarcy for his devotion to his troops and valor in combat.
He is proud of those awards, although not too proud. Pride leads to arrogance and arrogance leads to trouble.
When the Red Amazons were fighting the Second Rebellion of the Lost on Baraspine, encited by the arch-heretic Coriolanus Vistra, he was there. Donne was a bulwark there, keeping the women shielded against the horrors they saw.
So often it seemed they were shooting loyal Imperial citizens who were in the wrong place. The actions of the Adepta Soritas, with their prolific use of flamers, was almost as bad.
To calm his flock, he had speakers installed on his back pole, linked to his lungs. He chanted and sang. He was the steel that held them in line.
He is also popular for his harsh, but appropriate, penaces. Too many of his fellow priests are arbitrary. Each of his penaces seem consistent and appropriate to heal the damage done. This is not to say they are easy. Fifteen hours in the chantry is exhausting. But it joins the pentient to the Emperor’s Will and helps the soldiers around them.
It’s a damn sight better than a thousand “Ave Imperators” said in a corner.
